Sunday Supper

In my home, we’ve been reflecting on the age-old tradition of Sunday Supper.

Long gone are those slow evenings spent around a dinner table with family—designated time spent sharing good food and making lasting memories.

In a world that feels like it moves too fast, we’re committed to bringing back these moments that shouldn’t be lost to time.

That’s why I want to share a memory close to my heart.

One Sunday, when I was about ten, a typical (and unpredictable) Maine storm rolled in just as we were setting the table.

Rain hammered against the windows, and the power flickered in my grandparents’ old colonial home before finally giving out.

But that wasn’t new to us—and it surely wasn’t going to derail our tradition.

So in the dark, my grandfather lit every candle he could find. I can still remember the way their glow danced off the walls. I almost wished the lights wouldn’t return.

We gathered around the table as we always did, but this time with faces illuminated by the soft light.

Dinner was simple that night—cold lobster rolls piled high on stove-toasted buns.

As we settled in, a crash of thunder rattled the room so suddenly that my grandfather jumped, his lobster roll slipping right out of his hands and landing squarely in his lap.

There was a moment of stunned silence before his booming laugh filled the room. He gathered up the roll, stuffed the fallen lobster back into the bun, and took a huge bite.

Mouth completely full, he said mid-chew, “Guess the storm was hungrier than me!”

To us, Sunday Suppers weren’t just about the food.

They were about connecting with each other, no matter the storm.

That’s the spirit behind Sunday Supper.

I invite you to join us in our initiative to bring back the magic of creating memories over shared meals—and making them extraordinary with fresh seafood straight from the icy waters of Maine.

I can’t wait for us to share a Sunday Supper with you.

Please reply to this email with your fondest Sunday Supper memory! We’ll share some of our favorite stories each Sunday with our Get Maine community.

Here’s to savoring every moment,

Mark
